On Mom’s Day, we loaded up our foursome in the Jeep for the easy, breezy ten-minute jaunt to Sullivans Island. We scored a front-door parking spot at Poe’s and a primo outdoor table, both of which I thought would be hard to come by on such a fine beach day. I chowed on some mahimahi tacos with my fave local brew, HopArt IPA by Coast. The kids ate grilled cheese sammies while the hubby scarfed down a decadent blue cheese burger with his Son of a Peach on draft. All the makings for a fine afternoon!
After our foodfest, we ambled to the beach to romp and play and collect enough sand to fill the Jeep for the ride home. My kids had a blast and wished me “Happy Mother’s Day” several times. (Um, without prompting — it was the best!) Sometimes it’s no fun to be the sunscreener, homework helper, disciplinarian, laundry lady, room inspection official, rulemaker, sibling rivalry moderator and tough-love administrator. But the occasional afternoon like this, peppered with my gal’s sandy love note and my sweet son’s “I Love You, Mommy” with double-cheek-kisses will get me through. Special thanks to my husband for the added treat of lots of handmade confections from Christophe. A dark chocolate each day might keep the doctor away.
I’m so thankful to be a mom and to have a mom and to know lots of fantabulous moms! Happy Faceless Friday, friends!
