We just spent a long weekend in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina with lots of Smiths. Boating, fishing, creek swims, boogie boarding, beach walks, cousin time and a continual spread of fantastic food (thanks, Aunt Jodie!) were capped off with a lovely evening at the Carolina Yacht Club, surely one of the most magical places on any coast.

As darkness fell, gobs of kids and their parents ran onto the beach to watch various fireworks displays from the Blockade Runner down to Carolina Beach. My kids and their cousins are among several glowy peeps who claimed the lifeguard stand to take in this fine evening beneath a crescent moon.
